In The Beginning
What was once, well… just two dudes, the need for a summer
job, and a Volkswagen Bus has blossomed
into a thriving local business… The story of Two Dudes
Painting Co. is not your average business story.
But then again, Two Dudes isn't your average painting
company. They weren't out to start a business. They
were out in search of work. They decided to paint a house.
Lacking the experience and knowledge of crafty
veterans, Pete and Brian worked hard and made a commitment
to their customers that continues today.
What’s Your Name?
Setting up shop with a back room in
Pete's house as a makeshift office, the young painters began
formulating
plans for world domination. Ok, so they really weren’t
planning for world domination, they simply need a place
to store some left over paint cans. But as those paint cans
began to number in quantity it became obvious the
space would soon become the office, which laid the
groundwork for their future. Sensing something unique
was brewing, Pete and Brian realized to become a legitimate
business, they were going to need a name for
themselves. Listening to tunes, while they passed the time
during the workday was paramount to Brian and
Pete. On one such occasion, Mott the Hoople cranked out the
David Bowie Classic “All the Young Dudes”
and a new company was born. Pete and Brian became Two Dudes
Painting Company.
A Vehicle for the Seasons
As the seasons passed and the Dudes began to multiply…
Tapping into roommates in search of rent, brothers and
cousins in search of summer work, the Dudes started to form
their family. With a full staff of painters and
equipment to haul, Pete's VW Bug and Brian's station wagon
were no longer cutting it. When choosing a
company vehicle, the Dudes made the most important purchase
in their history to date! They bought a '79
orange VW Micro Bus. The orange bus has become the Dudes
version of the Batmobile and is the mark by
which they are known today. The beauty of the Volkswagen was
not only the spacious interior it provided,
but armed with a “Volkswagen for Dummies” manual and cold
beverage, you fix just about anything that broke down on the
vehicle. Not to mention when you needed the right vehicle to
attend a concert or two, nothing
matched the ride in a VW bus.
To Infinity And Beyond
Reaching 20 years in business, and
still growing is an impressive feat! Last summer marked the
celebration
of Two Dudes Painting Company’s 20th year in business. To
reach this milestone, company owners Peter
Barber and Brian McCaskey, have traveled the long and
winding road. Growing from a simple partnership
of two young men, to a company of 25 employees took time,
patience, and most importantly a willingness
to be the best at what they do.
Two Dudes has carved their latex-colored path by simply
offering service that is unmatched. As in their
early days, Brian and Peter still strive to make sure that
their customers are satisfied. Two Dudes is
committed to taking the time, care, and patience to insure
that customers achieve their refinishing vision.
This early commitment to excellence has shaped and molded
the company into a business that places
great value on what they do and how they go about doing it.
From the most standard of paint jobs through their most
elaborate mural projects, Two Dudes Painting Company is a
well-oiled “Bus” that now involves
the commitment of many to put out the quality product for
which they are known.
